I am finished with all of my September orders!! How did this happen? I am never finished this early. Oh well I shall celebrate this amazing feat by working on some of my WIPs and acknowledging my children again haha.
Labor Day weekend seems like the perfect time to relax and only work on my projects. Not orders. I will start on Octobers orders after the holiday.
I may start trying to figure out the rest of my Christmas gifts as well since I am not on a dead line right now. Oh the things I can do when I don’t “have” to knit!!
Finished the mouse hat minus the bow. But it is doing some odd things. The brim is curling and the ears are not staying how I want them. I am going to have to block this hat. I hate blocking stuff. Such a pain and then the kids like to “help” which is not at all helpful.
Oh well, can’t send subpar hats to people! Let the blocking begin….ummm…tomorrow 🙂
Here is a bit of mouse hat evolution to help you get through the night…
Hat done…no ears…sleeping hat model
See the wonky rim?
I had a request for a mouse hat but in a 12 month size instead of the 2 yr old size I had originally made. So after lots of trial and error I have revised the pattern to accommodate the smaller size human.

Break yarn and pull through remaining stitches. Fasten, weave in ends

Pull yarn through live stitches and see together to make an ear.
CO 8 with pink
Knit in St. st for about 4″-6″
Wrap yarn around middle to make bow
glue or sew white buttons on.
Also you could use puff paints to make dots if you don’t want buttons on a hat for a 1 year old.
So I decided to add a flower to the baby aviator hat I made. I think it was the right decision. I really hope the recipient likes it. I am always nervous about that. Well that’s all for now
Time to start on more mouse hats and pumpkin hats.
I have been taking a break for a couple days. Attempting to get stuff done around my house and get my oldest ready for school. 3 more days until I get to send her back to school!!
I have also been trying to organize my yarn and see what I needed to get for all my orders. I finally have the orders in ummm order. And know what needs to be done when. Knowing is half the battle, or so says GI Joe.
Anywho… I went to therapy aka the yarn store the other day and bought most of what I need to get started on my orders.
Oh I did finish one hat but I think I will add a flower to it since it seems like it missing something.
That’s about it for now. Hoping to crank out a couple hats this weekend but we will see how it goes.
I love when packages I order arrive in the mail. It’s like Christmas but in August. I ordered a set of blocking pins off of Etsy and they arrived today. I was thrilled when I saw the package sitting in the mail box. I was also shocked since I just ordered them last week and didn’t expect them for some time.
The biggest surprise was the extras in the package. I have ordered from Etsy a lot but this is the first time I have received a free gift with my purchase. It was small, a button, stitch marker and herbal tea but I thought it was so thoughtful. I ordered from GloriaPatre Spin N Knit and plan to order from her again in the future. She has neat stuff for knitting and with fast shipping and the little extra I am now a huge fan.
Click here for her store. She has great knitting accessories and she has yarn!!
Now to finish up my WIPs so I can use my new blocking pins and find a suitable project for this adorable button to adorn.
I spent all day yesterday getting my half finished projects completed. I turned of the computer, turned on some music, invited my oldest kids friend over, put the baby in a nap, and knit until I finished SOMETHING!
My mother in law loves hand knit dish cloths so I usually have atleast one on my needles at all time. She thinks they are the best gifts ever and I can make them in my sleep when I actually pick up the project and do it.
Very simple but it’s finished and that’s what matters. I ended up blocking it since the bond off corner was doing something weird and the blocking made it not look wonky. I will stick this in my bin for Christmas gifts.
I then picked up that football hat that I was so sure was going to be quick and finished it. I was correct, it was quick when I actually worked on it. It turned out so cute!! I plan to make another for my nephew for Christmas but with a different team patch. This is for a little boy turning the big 0-1 and his mom is a huge steelers fan. I can’t wait to send it to them.
I have been dying to make a granny square crochet blanket but the problem I was having was I didn’t know how to crochet. So to solve that problem I sat down and finally taught myself. Granted I can only do a single crochet right now but you got to start somewhere right? I made what will eventually be another dish cloth.
All in all it was a very productive day. I always feel so accomplished when thing are finished. Now to start on some of my orders and finish my entrelac scarf. Got to have atleast one WIP around. 🙂
With the holidays just around the corner, the orders for knitted items have been flooding my email. I have pumpkin hats and mouse hats and boob hats(aka knitty titty)galore to make. I love making these things and really enjoy the little bit of spending money that these orders being in but I also have started feeling like its work and I don’t love that. I want to knit for fun and because I love the craft not because I am on a deadline. I don’t want this to become a job. So I took a break from all my orders, put them away for a minute and started knitting something that I wanted to not something I had to. And it was great!!!
I have been dying to try my hand at entrelac. I love the way it looks but have always been intimidated by it. Seemed very difficult and I am not one to so really complicated patterns. To my surprise it was so simple! Here is a pic of the scarf I started
It will have to be blocked but I think it’s turning out great. I am hoping to finish it today. Feeling very renewed to be knitting for fun for a bit.
I also took some time off to hang with this cutie yesterday.
And to fold up my diapers that have been waiting to be put away
All in all it was a nice relaxing day that has me amped back up and ready to start back on my orders.
Such a sweet baby right? What could an innocent child do wrong, one might say. Want to see what that innocent little cherub did? Huh do ya?
She did this!!!!
Pulled the needles right out while I was cooking dinner. Had to break out the crochet hook and DPNs
And a big glass of wine
And fix all those rows and stitches. Grrr
She really has a evil side. Don’t let the cute face fool you. The yarn destroyer she shall be called now 🙂
Lucky for her I was able to fix it without frogging the whole thing. She can continue to live in the same house as the yarn lol.
