I have been swamped with custom orders since opening my Etsy shop! I am loving it. So here is a few pics of what I have knit by request:

Baby sandals!! How stinking cute are these? Love them!! This is just one of several orders I have gotten.

I also have made a watermelon hat that I have away as a Instagram giveaway. Don’t have pictures yet but plan to snap a few before I mail it off.

Lastly a little happy moment for me. A dear friend had noticed I had been a little down in the dumps due all my health issues. Well she ordered me a present and it arrived yesterday. I was over the moon excited!!

New techniques

This has been a slow week. I haven’t accomplished much. I worked some on my baby sophisticate but it still is not finished. I need to get on it since it’s a birthday gift and I have to give it to the birthday boy on Saturday! Yikes!!!

The main reason I haven’t finished is because I have been sick. I caught a stomach bug from my kids(thanks girls) and that had me down. That in turn caused my RA to flare so now I am sore. Good times!! It has been very hard to knit with joint pain. So, to combat this I learned a new technique.
I taught my self how to knit Portuguese style. This has been life changing!! It cause zero hand strain, purling is easier than knitting, and I have increased my speed!! All pluses!
I watched this video and went to town. I am using my neck right now to keep tension but I plan to get a knitting pin soon.

If you will remember from the last post, I am doing a photo a day challenge with Geeky Girl Knits and Knitters Pride. Well, this week one of my pictures was chosen as a finalist!! Sooo if anyone wants to hop over to Ravelry and vote for Pic A, well I would not be mad at you 😃

That’s it’s! Hopefully I will have some FOs for the next post.
Happy knitting

Just call me Tortoise

Hello Knitters and readers of knitting blogs 🙂 Hope you all are well.

If you recall I have been looking for my knitting mojo, the gusto for FOs and the lulling click of needles. Well, it’s gone. I think it’s probably under my bed but who knows 😉
I have decided it’s time to take a step back and let this lapse in knitting run it’s course. I have still been knitting but at a much slower pace and I have decided that I am ok with that. My orders are still getting filled so I say that’s as good as I can do right now.

I completed a few things in this past week. All of which were a first! I love when I get requests for things I haven’t made before. I love the challenge of finding the perfect yarn, needles, getting the size right, coming up with a pattern, etc. That is the kind of thing that gets me knitting. I need more of that in my life.

First up was a baby infinity scarf. I may have mentioned this in my last post, can’t remember. Either way I have completed and blocked it. It is adorable!! I may make one for Thing 2 just in a bigger size.

I knit this in Monte Donegal yarn. Color Violet.
I love this yarn. This is the second item I have knit with it and I can guarantee it won’t be the last.
For this I used a size 6 16″ circular and co 102. I did a 2 row border in a 1×1 rib, knit even for 4.5″ then another 2 row 1×1 rib border and cast off using Jenys stretchy bind off. Voila, baby infinity scarf!! Can’t wait to see it on the recipient.

I started another project for a birthday gift. A friends son is turning 1 and I am making him a Baby sophisticate. I love these little jackets and once she saw the one I made before, she requested one. I LOVE making stuff for people who actually appreciate it! He is till wearing the hats I made him when he has born, granted they were knit bigger. I will most likely make a hat to go along with this sweater.

I am making this with Berocco Vintage. Another of my favorite yarns. I would say that about 40% of my stash is this yarn. I highly recommend it.
I plan to do the border, button bands and sleeve cuffs in this contrasting yarn.

I can’t wait to see this finished!!

That’s all I have for you all as far knitting stuff goes. I will leave you all with awesome pictures of my babies. Proud mama…Vicious is the brunette, Thing 2 is the blonde.

How Chasity got her groove back

Happy Monday everyone! Hope you all had a fab weekend. I spent the weekend attempting to find my knitting mojo. I *think* I may have found it or at least some version of it. I talked about losing it in my last post. I know that there will be lulls in knitting but I have orders(that have been paid for) that need to be filled, so now is not the Time.

I did decide to take a break and try my hand at a couple other ventures. I was hoping that this would give me the break I obviously needed and still get me back in the swing. A power nap for knitting if you will.
So up first, I made stitch markers.

This was actually a fun craft. I did have to employ my husbands help to crimp the beads but other than that it was all my craft.

Next up, I spent my weekend trying and executing a few new recipes. No pics or really anything to say on that, so let’s move on haha.

I did accomplish a little knitting. I made a baby cocoon. These things are apparently all the rage with the new hip mommies wanting super cute newborn pictures. I had seen them used in newborn pic but had never attempted to make one. It’s a big hat! That’s all. Just a giant hat you stuff your baby in. Super quick and it set my knitting groove back in gear.

I have decide that I will be taking my time. No more rushing from one project to the next. I am now working in a baby infinity scarf.(I had no idea they were a thing either) Hopefully I will have this finished quickly and mailed out soon.

Last up for the day…I joined a knitting Photo-a-day contest with Knitters Pride. Hop over to Instagram and check it out!

I would love to see what everyone comes up with each day.

That’s all for today Knitwits! Happy knitting!!

Knit all the things

I spent the weekend couch bound due to stuppy legs not working, but thanks to prednisone I got a TON of knitting finished. So, silver lining and all that.

I finished a hat and 3 pairs of booties and a leg warmer, oh my 🙂

The first thing to go on and come off the needles was a pooh bear newborn hat. It turned out great and will be so cute on the head of a tiny new human. I purchased this pattern last spring and have gotten my use of it. So well written. I do change the brim and add a couple more rows to make it not quite so short. In my experience bambinos are usually born with a bit of a cone head, so the extra rows accommodate for that.

Once the hat was completed it was time to whip up some booties! The lady that ordered the set wanted 2 pair of booties but didn’t specify color, what she wanted as far as style, anything. So I hopped on Ravelry and found some that I liked and would of wanted if my husband had of given me the boys I asked for!!
The first pair came out great but they looked more like a preemie size so I redid them in a chunkier yarn and on bigger needles!

20131104-080340.jpg
This is the first pair. See they just look really small. It may be that my kids were HUGE so my view of what a normal size baby looks like is a bit off but my theory is a baby can always grow but it’s really hard to shrink them 🙂 So bigger booties it was!

20131104-080610.jpg
This is the second attempt and I am much happier with the size.
I used Simple seamless baby booties which was Free on Ravelry.

Since I didn’t want to give her the same type of bootie for both pairs it was back to Ravelry to find something else that tickled my fancy.
I decided to try One seam baby slipper pattern, also free in Ravelry.
If it’s free, it’s for me!!

They turned out so cute! I had a time trying to decide on the buttons but once I figured out that, the pattern itself was a breeze.

I really hope the recipient likes them.
I am now off to knit yet another Minnie hat and gloves to match.
Here are some pictures of my sending the booties off into the world.

Losing my rhythm

I am losing my good rhythm I had going there for a while. I have so much to knit that I need that rhythm to stick around. Part of it is my eyes. They are not that great to begin with and knitting with size 2 and size 4 needles for days on end have not been the best for my eyes. On a good note I have finished 2 out of 4 pairs of baby leg warmers.

20131029-081125.jpg
I have started on the third pair but had to take a break to give my eyes a chance to rest. I am using this pattern for the leg warmers and other then my eyes I have had no problems with them. They knit up quick and are so stinking cute! I can’t wait to have then finished and see them on the baby they are for.

For now I am working on a diaper soaker for a friends little boy. I made a size medium and it just looked small so I frogged it and I am now trying the largest size. I found a super simple pattern on Ravelry for the soaker. It is basically a hat with leg holes haha. Hoping I have it finished tonight and get some of my motivation back.
I have a ton of orders and only about 6 weeks to complete them. 1 is needed by November 6 but it is just a newborn bear hat so I should be able to whip it up in no time.

Happy Knitting!

It was worth it

The pumpkin hat was so worth all the trials and frustration I went through to make it. The recipient looks darling in it.

Here is a pic of her in the original:

See way to big for that tiny baby. I had to remake it. But it only took a day so no biggie and I let her keep the too big one so maybe it will fit next year.

Here she is in the new hat. It is the correct size and everything.

So much happier in the proper sized hat 🙂

Whip up my WIPs

I spent all day yesterday getting my half finished projects completed. I turned of the computer, turned on some music, invited my oldest kids friend over, put the baby in a nap, and knit until I finished SOMETHING!

My mother in law loves hand knit dish cloths so I usually have atleast one on my needles at all time. She thinks they are the best gifts ever and I can make them in my sleep when I actually pick up the project and do it.

20130813-083606.jpg

Very simple but it’s finished and that’s what matters. I ended up blocking it since the bond off corner was doing something weird and the blocking made it not look wonky. I will stick this in my bin for Christmas gifts.

I then picked up that football hat that I was so sure was going to be quick and finished it. I was correct, it was quick when I actually worked on it. It turned out so cute!! I plan to make another for my nephew for Christmas but with a different team patch. This is for a little boy turning the big 0-1 and his mom is a huge steelers fan. I can’t wait to send it to them.

20130813-084020.jpg

I have been dying to make a granny square crochet blanket but the problem I was having was I didn’t know how to crochet. So to solve that problem I sat down and finally taught myself. Granted I can only do a single crochet right now but you got to start somewhere right? I made what will eventually be another dish cloth.

20130813-084243.jpg

All in all it was a very productive day. I always feel so accomplished when thing are finished. Now to start on some of my orders and finish my entrelac scarf. Got to have atleast one WIP around. 🙂
